Building on its recent wins at the world-renowned 2016 and 2017 Cannes Awards, the creative team at Richter Studios was presented with the 2018 German Design Award in Frankfurt, Germany this past February. The Chicago video production company was honored in the Audiovisual category for a promotional video it created for the British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park.
“What an outstanding creative journey it has been to the red carpet in Germany,” said Jeremy Richter, CEO of Richter Studios. “This win represents our creative footprint on the world stage and it was a tremendous breakthrough reaching this level of excellence. To win a German Design Award, entrants must be nominated by the German Design Council or one of its foundation members. To ultimately be honored as a winner by one of the world’s leading design institutions is an incredible creative achievement.”

“As I’ve often said over the years, passion is the transparent signature on any great work of art,” Richter said. “The master craftsmen at Richter Studios are known by many as pioneers in the field of digital cinema. We are constantly experimenting with the latest production cameras, drone aerials, artificial intelligence and sophisticated animation techniques. This speaks to our relentless passion for artistic excellence and leadership in the fields of still and motion imagery.”
The winning film was for the British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park. It featured students, parents and faculty, and was shot over three days in Lincoln Park (a neighborhood in the heart of Chicago). All footage was captured at 4K with a Canon EOS C500. This same film also won at the 2016 Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in the Corporate Video category.
“It is great to see a piece of work focused on our unique school to be recognized with such a prestigious award,” said BISC Lincoln Park Principal Ed Pearce. “The staff, students and parents at BISC LP are the heart of our school and their passion for the quality education we offer really shines through here.”

“What makes this award extra special is that my family has always had a strong connection with our heritage. The word ‘Richter’ means ‘Judge’ in German and my family tree traces back largely to the Kingdom of Prussia, which played a major part in German history. Ich bin sehr stolz auf diese Auszeichnung (“I am very proud of this award”).

The German Design Council, the expert for brand and design in Germany, bestows the German Design Award. Established on the initiative of the German Bundestag (the lower house of German parliament) as a foundation in 1953, it supports the industry in all matters consistently aimed at generating an added brand value through design. The German Design Award is only presented to projects that truly represent pioneering contributions to the German and international design landscape. The award represents the third time Richter Studios has received international recognition for the creative it has developed for British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park. The two previous wins were presented at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2016 and 2017.
