Putting a little “muscle” into a good cause is often a good thing. But how about some actual mussels? Through a groundbreaking effort to revitalize the Chicago River back into a wildlife sanctuary, Urban Rivers launched a program to reintroduce mussels into the massive urban waterway. It’s part of a larger effort known as the Wild Mile, where artificial floating gardens filled with native wetland plants provide food, shelter, and a high quality habitat for wildlife are being implemented into the river. Building on its previous award-winning “Floating Gardens” film with the British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park, this inspirational film tells the continuing transformational story of the famous river.

There’s no better way to tell the inspiring stories of community achievement than through the words and actions of those are making it happen. Our Chicago video production team captured interviews of the Urban Rivers team explaining their revolutionary approach to transforming the famous river. Custom b-roll footage was also filmed on location over two separate days with the Panasonic LT Varicam.
